Milan City best place in Italy

Milan is a second largest Italian city and also the capital of Lombardy. The city has about 1.35 million of well-dressed citizens. The Milan Metropolitan area is an area with highest industrial and population density, a part of Blue Banana. The city belonged to the Celtic people, and then it was taken by Romans. It soon became the center of banking and commercial. After World War 2, there was a significant rise in international migrations and today 1/6th of the population of Milan City is foreign born. In summer, the city is hot and dry whereas its very foggy in winters.

The place acts like a magnet for designers, models, artists, photographers, musicians and entertainers. It became a center of glamor in the world. More than two millions tourists visit Milan each year. Milan is also popular for hosting many International fairs and events. Two of world’s major football teams, F.C. International Milano and A.C. Milan, also reside here.

One of the top most popular and notable opera houses is La Scala ( Teatro Alla Scala). It was opened in 1778 and since then it is housing major opera events. It is an honor for opera fans to attend a show in La Scala. The museum beside it is full of antique musical instruments.

Glass-roofed shopping arcade popularly known as Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was built in 1867 and is a center of sophisticated and stylish shops, restaurants, night clubs and bars. Squares of Duomo and La Scala are being linked by Galleria. Standing on the testicles of Bull of Turin, it is considered as arrival of good luck in one’s destiny.

Milan’s Duomo Gothic cathedral is the largest in the world. It has 3200 statues inside and it offers a splendid view of the whole city from rooftop. Similarly Piazza del Duomo is the hub of city’s historic center. Sforza Castle lies near the center of the city and is a congregation of many museums and parks. The last sculpture of Michelangelo, The Rondanini Pietà, is also in the Art Museum. Milan has numerous parks and public garden.

The city also has three important botanical gardens such as Brera Botanical Garden, Milan University Experimental Botanical Garden and Cascina Rosa Botanical Garden. All the major renovations were done by Austria’s Maria Theresa. She constructed many important buildings that are a pride of the city.
